Frankfurt

Popularly known as Mainhattan and Bankfurt, Frankfurt is a rich city in central Germany with 650.000 inhabitants. This is the first place where the traveler lands as the exotic abode boost an International airport, the leading freight airport in Europe and largest in terms of passengers on the European continent. Frankfurt plays a dual role in Germany: on the one hand it is the cut-throat financial capital of Germany and on the other it is a civilized place which spends more per year on the arts than any other city in Europe. Frankfurt is an exotic abode where a traveler will discover a lively international city boosting many activities.

Frankfurt endorses many theatres and galleries, and an array of museums. The city has seen a destructive past as over half of the city was destroyed during world war II and the re builders opted for innovation rather restoration.

Frankfurt is a great tourist destination as it attracts tourist from all over the world. It is a dynamic European metropolis and a melting pot of cultures, languages and lifestyles. Hundred of decades ago, the city was the center of the German parliamentary movement of 1848/49 and the meeting place of the "Frankfurt National Assembly” which was of historical importance for the democratic development of Germany. In 1948 it was Frankfurt, where the first steps were taken to found the Federal Republic of Germany.

The city shows its full splendor on the banks of the Main river and significantly the biggest part of town lies on the north bank. The city center lies in the east where most banks and other institutions are located. The south bank is known as Sachsenhausen and is very nice place to explore. Most of the museums could be found at Museumsufer, the south bank of the main, near the city center. Römerplatz is the good tourist spot to explore the historical buildings of that area, such as the Römer and the St. Bartholomäus church.

Climate of Frankfurt
Frankfurt have a temperate climate with warm summers and mild cloudy winters. The climate is more continental with warmer summers and colder winters. The Alpine and upland regions have cooler weather and more rain. Rain is expected throughout the country and all the year round.

Frankfurt's summers are warm with occasional wet days, expect temperature range between 10 and 32 degrees Celsius. In the winter, temperatures range between -10 and 10 degrees Celsius.

Getting There
By Airways:

It boost an International airport and for tourist it works like a gateway to Europe. It is Europe's leading freight airport and in terms of passengers it comes second, after London Heathrow. So a lot of people are likely to arrive by plane. From the airport there is a fast suburban train to the city center. The departures are frequent and even for people who only have a stop-over of only 4 hours, it is worth going to the town.

By Railhead:

Frankfurt boost many good and frequent trains and other European cities, both within and outside of Germany. A fast train to Amsterdam only takes about five hours to reach the Frankfurt. Other fast rail link includes Berlin, Munich, Hannover and Cologne. In most cases it is necessary to register in advance.

Getting Around Frankfurt
Frankfurt endorse a good public transport system. Buses, tramways and the underground are more popular in Frankfurt. Taxis are generally not used as they are quite expensive.

U-Bahn
This is the underground line and boost a two major lines. One track is going from the Central Station north to the Berger Strasse, via Theaterplatz, Roemerberg and Konstablerwache, the other going round the center an into Sachsenhausen. You can change at Consatblerwache and at Theaterplatz.


S-Bahn
The S Bahn takes you to the Central Station first north to the Opera, then via Fressgasse to Zeil and Konstablerwache. From there it turns south and crosses the Main and goes to the Bahnhof of Sachsenhausen.


Bicycle
People in Frankfurt love cycling and is a common mode of transportation over there. There are many bicycle lanes and cars tend to be quite polite to bicycle riders. You can take bike on rent at the Central Station or from Radschlag in the Hallgartenstrasse 56.
