Bavaria is third largest city in Augsburg, endorses some of the finest churches and wonderful restaurants and beer gardens. A visit to Bavaria would be complete without a visit to the Oberammergau Passion Play. Staged every ten years since 1632, it is the world's longest running play.

Tourism has become an increasingly important economic factor in the Free state of Bavaria. The total number of overnight accommodations in all hotels and private lodgings, with a total capacity of about 715.000 beds, amounts to nearly 93 million, inclusive also of camping sites. As regards international tourism, the Free State has shown phenomenal growth as one in nearly five visitors comes from abroad.
