Popularly known as the City of Palaces and Gradens, the city of Potsdam is better known for its the residence of the Prussian kings in the 18th and 19th centuries. However, the enchanting history of this place is much older. Traces of human life have been found from times as old as the beginning of the Stone Age 12,000 years ago. The “Roman Entrenchment” near Sacrow was built in the Bronze Age about 3 000 years ago and is one of Europe’s oldest military constructions.

Brandenburg Street has restored 18th-century residential area that has been transformed into a wide pedestrian boulevard filled with eclectic book stores, antique shops and bistros.

The city rejoice itself with the Das Quartier, a big cultural programme. The cultural fest brings all sorts of people together. from squatters to lawyers. Generally Fridays are dedicated to parties. A visitor has the choice to show off their skill at billiards or darts here. You really shouldn't miss the last Saturday of the month - soul and live Black music create a really rollicking atmosphere. And admission is usually free. In warm weather there's a peaceful garden in the backyard.
