Spreewald

Spreewald is the green city of the Berlin Area. The towns of Lubben and Lubbenau, only 13 km apart, rival as the enchanting capital of the Wald. One of the best thing to do in the Spreewald is to visit the forest by boat. By boating you can cross the canals.

Hiking and walking are also a very good options to try in Sprewald. You can get the walking routes from the tourist office in Lubben that sells the maps. The best hike is from Lubben to Lubbenau (13 km).

Take out some time to visit Lehde as well, the Venice of the Spreewald. It has a museum that exemplifies good Sorbian architecture. The Spreewald is easily reached by train to Lubben.

Tourist Attraction
The major tourist attraction in the town. Reconstructed in the 1740-ties, the Schloss is a predecessor of Sanssouci in Potsdam. It was spared in WW II, and many art treasures have been brought to the Schloss Museum afterwards. The schloss is being rebuild and redesigned. It remain open from April to October from 9:30 to 5 pm. Admission is 6 DM.
