Ulm

Ulm and its second half Neu-Ulm is situated on the banks of the river Danube and are segregated by the boundary between the Federal Lands of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. The population of their city is 170,000 people. Despite of the division the two towns have lot of things common that includes economy, tourism, culture, traffic or in providing leisure facilities. Most striking are perhaps the important traffic routes which meet there in the heart of Southern Germany.

The major attraction of the town are the Ulm's cathedral, the Ulmer Münster. Ulm was also the birthplace of one of the 20th century's most famous persons - Albert Einstein. Some big world-wide operating companies, modern convention facilities, the science park close to the University and colleges, a wide cultural offer both in quantity and in quality and outstanding landmarks of contemporary architecture are characterizing for the modern aspects of Ulm and Neu-Ulm.

Ulm celebrate a big fest every year on the second last monday of July, called the "Schwörmontag". It the day when the governing mayor swears an traditional oath to his people. The same day thousands of people swim and party in the river Danube and the whole city is on its feet.

Tourist Spots of Ulm

Ulm has many tourist spots to explore, making it one of the most enchanting towns in Germany.

Crooked House
It is one of the well known house of the Old town of Ulm and was built in 15th/16th century. The Crooked house is situated in the Fishermen's quarter on the banks of river Blau. According to the "Guiness Book of Records" 1995 it is registered as the "most crooked hotel" of the world. After a complex renovation, it is corrected and secured in its crooked position.

Ulm Munster

It is the second largest example of Gothic ecclesiastical architecture in Germany. Ulm Munster has dominated the city and the region for hundreds of years and its name is, a synonym for the city itself, at home and abroad. With its 161 metres, it is the highest spire in the world. Those who climb its 768 steps are rewarded with a superb panoramic view of Baden-Württemberg's Ulm and Bayern's Neu-Ulm and, in the right weather conditions, a vista of the Alpine range from Säntis to the Zugspitze.


Fishermen's quarter
It is a medieval artisans' quarter situated on the River Blau endorsing scenic houses, bridges and squares.
