Climate of Munich

Munich's boost a continental climate, that means, it can get very cold between December and February. Snowfall is still possible at the start of May, but then it will soon melt. Summer temperatures normally reach a maximum of 30 Celsius. Weather changes sometimes go hand in hand with great differences in temperature.

A common phenomenon in the Alps is the Fohn wind. This occurs when air masses dropping down behind the mountain range as fall winds, heat up more than they had cooled off while rising. For Munich this means a hot southerly fall wind, a magnificent panoramic view, as well as headaches for the weather-sensitive, circulatory disorders, and gloominess.
